Overall, the gameplay experience of Battlefield 5 is fantastic, and I love some of the introduced features like squad reviving, fortifications, and reinforcements (strongly remembers me to BF2).

Sliding is another movement feature that got carried over, but this one is very useful to get into cover or to surprise an enemy if you slide into the room (worked a lot of times for me ?).īut this system is not without errors, as many players struggle to go get through windows (especially smaller ones). Also, being able to run while crouching is excellent to stay in cover while moving to another area of the map (very handy on Arras in the open spaces). Now, we can grab edges and climb over walls, which opens new ways to get to the objective much quicker. If we compare the current movement system of BF5 to previous games like BF3 & BF4, we can see a massive improvement of opportunities. The last thing is the improved movement system that got carried over from Battlefield 1. However, they can not revive other teammates without being a medic. In BF5, squad members can revive each other, but they have to go through a longer animation, which makes reviving as a non-medic much riskier. When one of our squad members gets killed, we do not have to be a medic to get them back up. These fortifications have a direct impact on the gameplay and get used by many players regularly. To counter the destruction, players can now build fortifications like sandbag walls, trenches, barriers, walkways, supply stations, bridges, tank blocker, and much more. Speaking of the destruction, we can also destroy objects (buildings or walls) like in Battlefield 1. These rockets can destroy a vast area when they hit the ground, and thus, eliminating all enemies that are in range. Playing the objective is now much more rewarding for squads too, as the squad leader can use gained points to order reinforcements like a supply canister drop, a Sturmtiger, or a V-1/JB-2 rocket. On the other hand, the heavier ones are fantastic to take down enemies from a distance. Lighter tanks are excellent to hunt infantry and support your team on the frontline. Depending on the tank we play, we can go into different situations.
Tanks do not feel extremely overpowered anymore as they did back in Battlefield 3.
The development team did an excellent job on the vehicle balancing as well. At the moment, most of the weapons are very useable and well balanced.

After the community formed a strong line, Dice took back their TTK patch (Time-To-Kill), and weapons felt as before. However, having many options for maps, vehicles, and weapons to play with is not enough to be a decent game, when these things are not balanced. But still, my favorite ones are Panzerstorm, Devastation, and Rotterdam.

Especially the new maps that got added though the Pacific update are fantastic and well designed. When we jump right into a game, we can explore 19 maps in total, that are located in countries like Germany, Belgium, France, or Greece. Still, it is a massive improvement to the system of the previous game, Battlefield 1. Unfortunately, we can not customize our weapons to such an extent as in Battlefield 4.

This feature allows players to customize a weapon to fit his playstyle and gives us more opportunities on how to play. Weapons can be customized with optics and skins, and enhanced by using the skill tree. But in BF5, we probably have the best gunplay experience across the whole series.įor a completely new player, the game offers decent weapons to start with, to unlock even more weapons and gadgets over time. The franchise is well known for its sandbox moments, where players can do everything they want (especially in BF4).
